Introduction to Nishat.

Nishat group is one of the leading and most diversified business groups in south Asia with the fixed assets over 300 billion (US$ 5 billion).It ranks amongst the top five businesses of Pakistan. The group has strong presence in three most important business sectors of the region as textile, cement and financial services. In addition, the group also has reasonable market share in Adam jee insurance, power generation, paper products and phoenix aviation. The group has remarkable position in the market as good as any multinationals as be. It showcases its varied expertise and acumen in every part of its operations.
Founder                  
Mian Mohammad yayha was born in 1918 in chiniot. In 1947when he started with running a leather business in Calcutta and then a cotton export house. He soon branched out into ginning, cotton, jute textiles, chemical and insurance. By a little passage of time he found Nishat group. Today Mian Mohammad Mansha like his father continues the spirit of entrepreneurship and has led the group to become a multinational corporation. Nishat has grown from a cotton export house into the premier business group of the country with 5 listed companies. Nishat group with 30,000 employees is the third largest employer in Pakistan.

1.      Products / services

As we can clearly understand by its name that it is a textile company. Nishat textile mill is involved in Fabrications of fabrics basically. Garments, bed linen to kitchen coordinates, upholstery to apparel, Nishat has become a famous name as a creator of high quality designs at reasonable prices. Mainly they are operating Women, Kids and Menswear departments, along with Bed linen. There lawn fabric has gone from a basic cotton product to a fashion product for all seasons and occasions.

Main features
·         Nishat Linen comprises  major departments: Home Linen, Nisha Fabric and Nisha Fashion, Naqsh by Nishat, Naqsh prince & Nisha princess and Nishat accessories (handbags, galas, embroidered borders)
·         The department of Linen was set up in October 1990
·         It began with producing home linen products
·         Soon a department of Home Linen was set up
·         First outlet in Gulberg in 1992
·         The Home Linen department was followed by the launch of Nishat in 2005
·         A Prêt department was set up in last 2010
·         50 shops distributed over 18 cities
·         Nishat outlets were welcomed in two cities Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
·         Private distributor are selling Nishat linen products in UK
·         Nisha fabric :
 Sampling and production of Nisha fabric takes place at Nishat Dyeing and Finishing, the print design team is based at the main design studio. This range of clothing is only for women. Nisha offers as many as 250 lawn prints every season it includes single shirt pieces, three-piece designs and two-piece suits. In winters you can get four main fabric choices as Linen, Sateen, Khaddar and Karandi in numerous prints.

·         Nisha fashion:
As far as I think nisha fashion is one of the widest ranges of clothing in different cities of Pakistan. In Nisha fabric there are unstitched cloths whereas in Nisha fashion they have a huge stitched clothing line. They are always in highlights because they have develop exclusive designs for special ranges such as, the Eid range, Muharram range etc. moreover they have special  colorful range of  prints of apparel  featured as “Prêt” range.

Naqsh is a very well known name in men wear. It was launched in 2010.It has a wide range of men kurta ranging from casual wear to occasional wear.

As Nishat have a wide range of clothing for adults, they have a great range for little boys and girls too. Naqsh prince is for boys and Nisha princess is for girls.

·         Home linen
There department of Home Linen divided into several product ranges: Bed Linen, kitchen and Table Linen. Bedding includes simple bed sheets and the formal range like bridal sets and heavily embellished cushions as well as other bedding accessories. In addition to children’s Linen, Nishat also manufactures cot sets that are unique both in quality and comfort.

·         Accessories
 Handbag, embroidered borders or galas are manufactured in textile mills so yet again Nisha Fashion department offers a range of accessories including embroidered galas, embroidered patches, buttons, printed and embroidered borders. We also feature fashion accessory items such as handbags.

Leadership Styles (HR. Department)


Nishat Linen is the best business group working in Pakistan. The leaders and managers of Nishat experiencing the democratic leadership style in workplace as they are supportive and helping the subordinates as per their problem concerns. Moreover, the company's leader believe that they are honest with their job and subordinate and in return, the subordinate do the same with them.
On the basis of The different interviews which we have collected from the different executives of the company we concluded that their leadership styles are on situational basis usually they use democratic leadership styles but when the situation went out of control they also use autocratic leadership. We also did some random interviews from the different employees of the company regarding to the behavior of their top management they answered.
1-      Employee
The behavior of my supervisor is quite helping and friendly I ask and share every type of problems with him and he guided me very well, some time on my mistakes he called me in office and ask me the reasons of the mistakes and told me the solutions.
2-      Employee
I am working here from last 3 years , in these 3 years I learn a lot of things from my boss, he told me how to handle the pressure situations , I also learn helping to others and be honest with the job from my boss,
From the interviews we collected from different executives of HR department we came to know the issues which they currently dealing are
·         Privacy of Data
·         Conflicts among employees
·         Job setting
Conflicts mostly occurred due the variation b/w bonuses they give to the employees, for example some time employee made assumptions that I am doing more better than other so therefore I should receive higher bonus than others, another issue is job setting of the employees which came from different backgrounds either he can be suitable for the place or the post which we are offering him, sometimes employee get bored from the same job during long time than this became also an issue to rotate their jobs.




3B. Areas that should be improved

According the data we have collected the areas which should be improved are.

Employees Empowerment
            Through the random short interviews with some employees in HR dept. we came to know that employees are just do what the higher authorities asked them to do. They cant do anything according to their understandings.

            Another thing which we noticed is the communication hierarchy of the company , there is indirect communication b/w the employees and the top management of , if one employee considered something negative for the company or some unjust behaviors than He can’t talk directly to the top management of the company, if he has some issues than he has to follow the following hierarchy of the company.


 







Promotional Strategies
            We asked this question from the different employees in HR dept. and the answer we got same that the promotions are be done the basis of favoritism if you are more close to your manager than you get early promotions

·         employees empowerment (there is no employees empowerment),
·         communication hierarchy of the company (Indirect Communication)
·         promotional strategies (favoritism in promotion )

and from the management side the issues and problems they are currently facing are.

·         Job setting

By analyzing these issues and problems our recommendations to the HR dept. are.
·         Change communication hierarchy of the department  
·         Give empowerment to the employees
·         Clear the employees assumptions from promotional strategies
·         Told them the importance of your privacy
·         Involve them in decision making

o   If an employee is facing any issue regarding to his supervisor/manager or any other improvement which he/she might think can improve the performance of the company than he/she able to talk directly to the top management.
o   They should  empower their employees to think an can  what he/she feel good for the company, they also involve them in decision making as this increase the loyalty and responsibility among employees.
o   First they should make sure that is there any favoritism take place in promotions , after they should clear employees confusion regarding to their promotional strategies
